Griffon Vulture Nature Reserve
It is possible to find the griffon vulture especially on the island of Cres, where this protected species is preserved in two natural reserves.
In nature the Griffon is nourished of dead animals, playing a key role in safeguarding from epidemics and diseases among the animals.
The Griffon build his nest on the rocks, where hatch the eggs for almost two months:
the baby remains with the parents for a period of four months before being able to fly and learn how to procure food.
The wingspan of a griffon adult can reach 2.80 m and can weigh up to 15 kg.
The protection of griffons is supported from the center of ornithology of Cres.
